By calling ourselves a "Family Friendly"
Resort we are asserting to you our commitment to provide a
wholesome, healthy, satisfying and respectful environment for ALL
our visitors. If you want to party -
go ahead, just be respectful of those around you and the rules/policies
of our resort. We are not
unreasonable folks and are not against partying, we just believe
that EVERYONE has the right to enjoyment,
that includes children, families and others. We are committed to
being a destination that is friendly to ALL, from Seniors to Toddlers,
that includes partygoers - to within reason.
The most important points for all patrons to follow
are:
Our 11pm quiet hour is strictly enforced to ensure
that everyone who wants/needs a good nights sleep - can have one.
Avoid loud cursing, vulgar and/or excessive behavior
around public areas of the resort - the store, pools, pavilion, beach
etc., especially in the presence of children.
Driving too fast - children, pets, trail riders,
bicyclists and others are present throughout the resort and could
"appear" in the road without warning, drive 10 mph and be
alert.
Excessive inebriation can create problems, if someone
in your group becomes excessively intoxicated it is the responsibility
of your group to care for, monitor and protect that person if needed.
Plus, it may be prudent to keep them with your group and campsite/cabin
to avoid abusive/improper contact with other patrons.
About
"Family Friendly" Floating
Family friendly floating on the
river occurs regularly, and is as much a result of good planning
as it is coincidence. The River is a public place, everyone
has the right to use and enjoy it, and on certain parts of the
river they do so in very large numbers, mostly on Saturdays.
Fortunately for you and us we service the stretch of the
river from Leasburg, MO. down to Bourbon, MO. It is generally
less frequented AND the most picturesque 10 mile stretch of
the Meramec River, featuring Hinch
Rock, Vilander
Bluff Natural Area, which includes a Great Blue Heron Rookery
with 40 active nests. If you're really lucky, you will get a
glimps of the Osprey that spends its summers there, and in the
winter Bald Eagles are a common sight.
Occasionally, there are people
on the river who are disrespectful to themselves, to others
and the stream. The larger the crowds - the more of those types
of river goers there may be. We actively discourage those behaviors,
but the bottom line is; no one can control what people do once
they are out there. If you encounter a person or group like
that just let them pass or float on by them, then inform us
so that we or law enforcement can handle it appropriately. The
vast overwhelming amount of excessive/disrespectful behaviors
occur on crowded weekends, specifically Saturdays, on the stretch
of river above Leasburg. We do not service that area of the
river, and rarely have those problems, as our floaters can attest
to.
Bring
the kids, aunts & uncles, cousins, parents, grandparents and friends!
We have the most awesome cabins, many large enough to accommodate the
whole clan!
Great camping too!
